Target AFTER Christmas shopping is the BEST shopping
Target after Christmas shopping is insane. People see 90% off and they just go a little crazy. But who can blame them…it’s 90% off people! But lets back up.
On New Years eve day I went to Target… what for?… I don’t even remember. As I was browsing the isles I saw the 90% off Christmas isle since it was just about a week after Christmas. For some reason, I have a hard time buying Christmas stuff after the holidays even if it is practically free, so I honestly wasn’t THAT excited about the ornaments, ribbons, random stand up santas etc. But as I walked through the isle I notice 2 stools like this. They aren’t marked down, they say 59.99.
I’m like… ehhh, I’ll just check it out just in case. I need some extra seating in my house, and dressed up with a sheepskin throw or or something like a small blanket it would look cute. So I throw them in my cart and roll over to the price checker. I look at the screen after scanning and it said 5.99. 5.99!! I looked around the store to make sure no one was going to steal it out of my cart 😉 and headed toward the register. I didn’t have a lot of time or I might have looked around more.
Here we go again!
Well fast forward to the next day (New Years Day) and I’m hanging out with my sister in law and she suggests heading to the store to get a break from the kids for an hour or so. I told her my target story and we decided to check out the Target near her. The Christmas section was ransacked… like almost completely empty, except for this one girl that had a cart full of random furniture that we considered tackling. And we thought, maybe she knows something we don’t know. My sister in law saw she had some of those Hand & Hearth pillows like this:
So she looks around for some of the same pillows in the Hearth & Home isle and checks them. They were somewhere around $5 instead of 24.99! We checked a few other items in the Hearth & Home and furniture section and found ANOTHER stool for $5.99, and two of these black and white enamel trays seen in the pic below on the side table:
The trays were $1.99 each (originally $19)!!
Here’s the Plan
So. Here is the attack plan for next year. I’m telling you right now… do the following:
- Mark your calendars for somewhere around the 29th or 30th of December.
- Right before you go to target check their website and search for Christmas Clearance. You should also be able to search specifically for Christmas clearance house wares or furniture.
- Take some screen shots of things you want to look for, or keep the webpage up as you look around Target. Many of the things are already discounted on the site and then you will KNOW to look for them in the houseware section and do a price check even if they don’t say they are discounted at the store.
- Keep an open mind and treat it like antique shopping or something. Think of how you can use the items differently than they are intended for. For example, there may be ways to use the stool as even a small side table, or plant stand with the right accessories.
Here’s one of my stools in my bedroom!
